Our Story

Our founders, Timothy D. Scandurro and Stephen O. Scandurro, began their legal careers in the litigation sections of large regional firms. However, they were convinced that high-quality personal service could be delivered at a fraction of the cost of larger firms. This conviction led them to form Scandurro & Layrisson in 1997.

Our Philosophy

Our service model is built on resolving legal issues for our clients quickly and inexpensively if we can, while also being willing and able to take the long road if we need to. We take cases to trial regularly, including many cases in which other lawyers seek our help. Referrals from other lawyers, and from our existing clients, account for the vast majority of our business.

We have represented workers injured on vessels, platforms, rigs, and docks for many years, and we also defend companies who are sued on claims involving maritime-related injuries arising under the Jones Act or the general maritime law.

What Sets Us Apart

We fight hard for our clients while also striving to meet the highest ethical and professional standards. Three members of the firm have been appointed by the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board to chair Hearing Committees that recommend to the Louisiana Supreme Court punishments, suspensions, and disbarment of attorneys who have violated our profession's ethical rules.

Our Location

Our office is located at 607 St Charles Avenue, a historically significant property in the Central Business District of New Orleans. Our office was built in 1830 by Col. Maunsel White, a veteran of the War of 1812 and a life-long friend of Andrew Jackson.
