Getting Help Doesn't Sabotage Your Career, But Not Getting Help Can!
The Delaware Lawyers Assistance Program (DE-LAP) was established to provide confidential assistance to Judges and Lawyers who are struggling with substance abuse, dependence, or mental and physical health problems. Our mission is to help these individuals identify problems affecting their work productivity and/or their quality of life, and to assist them in developing effective solutions for those problems. We strive to create a workplace atmosphere that encourages health and wellness, professional growth, and maintains the integrity of the legal profession.
Services Offered
DE-LAP offers a range of services, including confidential referrals, counseling, support groups, and educational resources. We provide assistance for various issues such as alcohol use disorder, depression, substance use disorder, gambling disorders, anger management, stress and burnout, grief and loss, and wellness and balance. Our program also offers support for lawyer transition and professional guidance.
Program Design
Our program is designed to provide a confidential, free, and non-disciplinary way for Judges and Lawyers to seek help. Referrals are confidential, and we assure that any legal professional who seeks assistance as a self-referral or is referred by another can be assured of the strictest confidentiality.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is at the heart of our program. We understand the sensitive nature of the issues our clients face and ensure that all interactions and information shared are kept confidential.
Executive Director
Our Executive Director, Carol P. Waldhauser, is dedicated to ensuring that our program provides the best possible support to Judges and Lawyers. She can be reached at (302) 777-0124 or cwaldhauser@de-lap.org.
Getting Help
If you or someone you know is struggling, please don't hesitate to reach out. Getting help is the first step towards recovery and maintaining a healthy career.
