Our Founding Story

Our firm was founded in November 2012 by our Managing Partner, Jacob Tingen. After graduating from the University of Richmond School of Law and passing the Virginia Bar, Jacob decided to take matters into his own hands when faced with a challenging job market for graduating lawyers. Instead of continuing his job search, he decided to start his own law firm.

Jacob's wife was instrumental in supporting his decision to work for himself. Shortly after hanging his shingle, Jacob reached out to a friend who headed a pro bono immigration legal clinic. He left a voicemail expressing his interest in taking on a couple of cases to establish himself in the community. His friend called him back and offered him not just a couple of cases, but a couple hundred.

This was the humble beginning of Tingen Law. Over the years, our firm has grown and expanded, adding more experienced attorneys to our team. Today, we are proud to offer a wide range of legal services designed to meet the needs of individuals and businesses alike.
