The Northwestern District Attorney's Office is a dedicated team of professionals committed to serving the people of Hampshire and Franklin counties and the town of Athol. Our mission is to seek justice for all, and we are dedicated to rigorous, fair prosecutions and progressive prevention and intervention efforts.

Our Services

We offer a wide range of services to meet the needs of our community. Our advocates, prosecutors, and staff work every day to fight for the victims of crime who may be vulnerable seniors, young children, or battered spouses. We are committed to addressing the challenges of substance abuse, child abuse, domestic violence, and other serious matters impacting the safety and quality of life in our 47 Northwestern communities.

Appellate and Conviction Integrity

Our Appellate Unit is dedicated to ensuring that justice is served and that those who are convicted of crimes are held accountable. We work closely with law enforcement agencies and the courts to ensure that convictions are fair and just.

Victim and Witness Services

Our Victim and Witness Services Unit provides advocacy and information about the court process to victims and witnesses of crime, as well as information about victim rights and referrals to community resources. We also provide services to family members of child victims and to survivors of homicide victims.

Prevention and Intervention

We are committed to preventing crime and reducing victimization. We work collaboratively with communities to address the challenges of substance abuse, child abuse, domestic violence, consumer scams, elder exploitation, and other serious matters impacting the safety and quality of life in our 47 Northwestern communities.

Employment and Internships

We believe that our staff should reflect the community we serve, and we strive to promote diversity and inclusivity in our office. We offer summer and academic year internships to college and law students, providing opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in the field of law.
